2022 International Business Connection Summit

Connecting Kenya and USA SMEs

Date: 14th and 15th July 2022; Venue: Kenyatta University; Wakanda Gala Night - Trademark Hotel, Gigiri.



International Business Connection Summit (IBCS) is poised to bring together over 400 SMEs from across the USA and the East African region for an International symposium at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya. The delegates are anticipated to come from Investors and SMEs from across business communities. The teams will include SME Owners, Partners, Executive Business Coaches, SME Business Investors, Commercial Businesses, industry organizations, Research and Educational Institutions, Government Departments, the National Business Registries and SME Networks and Associations.

This is a continuation of an event that has been held annually since 2019. It is an open forum for SME training, Capacity building and Capital attraction including the much-needed International Connections to benchmark and not only provide opportunities for the exchange of information but also allow for learning new technologies, business developments and together formulate business-addressing-policies, through thought-out leadership policy processes.

The IBCS 2022 is an international collaboration between Global Partners and Purpose Network (GPP), the Tour Operators Society of Kenya (TOSK) and the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre – Eastern Africa (GTRCMC-EA). The event will provide hands-on training and professional networking to assist the tourism industry to promote SME business growth and coordinate the exchange and integration of business investment and services.

The IBCS 2022, will include, the Business Conference, the Exhibitions and Matchmaking and Networking Gala-dinner. The event is envisioned to address the following SME needs:

  1. Training & workshops will provide valuable training, professional networking, and policy discussion opportunities.
  2. Investor matchmaking will allow delegates to engage with the IBCS’s leading Business and SME Investment professionals and discuss real-world SME financing efforts and Capacity building issues.
  3. Wakanda Gala will provide an opportunity for attendees to network with industry peers and share information about unique African culture and local entertainment.
  4. Exhibitions & Advertising will enable partners, sponsors, vendors and other stakeholders to showcase their products & services as well as attend IBCS Conferences.
  5. The IBCS Fellowship Programme will be launched at the end of the event to enable participants to continue engaging beyond the summit. The partners will be paired, according to need, enabling them to continue sharing knowledge, experiences and possibilities.

Over 4,000 University student athletes from all over Africa will descend on the East Africa city of Nairobi, in Kenya for the 10th FASU (Federation of African Sports Universities) Games to be held at Kenyatta University next year. The Multi-Sports event, which was scheduled for 2020 and postponed due to the COVID19 has now been confirmed for 6th – 10th.

An official communique and invitation to all universities in Africa was issued today under the joint signatures of Prof. Godfrey S. Mse the LOC President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Kenyatta University  (Finance and Development) KU, Ms. Nomsa Mahlangu - FASU President, Mr. Mbabu Murithi KUSA President and Prof. Paul K. Wainaina, the host Vice Chancellor.

The communique reads - On behalf of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU), The Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA), Kenyatta University (KU) and the Organising Committee (OC), we have the honour and the pleasure of inviting the universities from Africa to participate in the 10th All Africa University Games to be held at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya from 6th to 10th June, 2022.

The All-Africa University Games (FASU Games) is organised once every two years as the flagship event with nine editions having been held (Ghana - 1974, Kenya - 1978, political instability across Africa affected the events until its revival in Nigeria - 2004, South Africa - 2006, Uganda - 2008, Namibia – 2012, Kenya-2014, South Africa 2016 and Ethiopia 2018).

FASU games trace its history to1951 when two West African Universities, namely University of Ghana and the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in a quest to foster brotherhood and positive competition, started a bilateral annual sporting competition. The games grew into a continental competition incorporating other higher education institutions in Africa.

The format of participation at the games changed from National University teams to individual universities since the 8th FASU Games South Africa 2016.

Kenyatta University will be the venue for all sports as well as the athletes village. The games program includes: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Football, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, Handball, Swimming, Taekwondo and Karate in both genders. Woodball, Roll Ball, Goalball, Sitting Volleyball. In addition, Gurasumo (a Borana Traditional game) will be included for demonstration purposes.

The games will be used to qualify Africa’s representative teams to the FISU University World Cup Soccer 2023 for both men and women to be held in Jinjiang, China.
